This is the memorial at Groléjac by the side of the D704 on the southern side of the river Dordogne, about 40 miles south of Oradour-sur-Glane. The river is about 200 metres behind the memorial. The inscription on it reads, "It was here on the 8th of June 1944, that a German column suffered an appreciable delay due to the sacrifice of these patriots". The names are: Marcel Malatray, Louis Lablanche, Robert Neyrat, Firmin Mabru, Louis Perret, Louis Calquil and Marcel Thieres. The German column mentioned was part of the 1st Battalion of the Der Führer 4th Regiment of the Das Reich 2nd SS Panzer Division and it was was commanded that day by Sturmbannführer Adolf Diekmann: see picture of the bridge and hotel.
