Weidinger's Résumé of December 1943

This résumé is unusual in that it has apparently been written for Weidinger, rather than by him. No Signature or date on this document, but it shows him as, "commander of an SS-Panzer Grenadier Regiment" and this must mean Der Führer. He was appointed Regimental commander of the Battle Group Das Reich on 17-December-1943, so this résumé must date after then and before he got his Knight's Cross on 21-April-1944. Comments are in italics.

On the 16-April-1934, Weidinger came to the SS-Wachsturmbann (camp guard detachment) Dachau. He did service up to 1-5-1935 here and was then moved to the SS-Junkerschule Brunswick. Here he became SS-Unterscharführer on the 1-June-1935 and on the 9-November-1935 was promoted to SS-Scharführer. After the visit to the SS-Junkerschule Brunswick, he attended a Platoon Leaders course in Dachau, was nominated on the 15-March-1936 to be an SS-Standartenjunker and on the 2-4-1936 a SS-Standartenoberjunker in the IV SS / "D" after the move to Ellwangen. Here he was active as Platoon Leader. After his promotion to SS-Untersturmführer on the 20-4-1936, he attended an infantry pioneer course for Platoon Leaders. He got his promotion to SS-Obersturmführer on 9-11-1938. He was then appointed as Battalion-Adjutant and then as Company-Leader in the SS-Reconnaissance-Detachment. On the 1-7-1940 he was promoted to SS-Hauptsturmführer and transferred on the 23-9-1940 to the Divisional Staff of the SS-Division "Das Reich". After temporary service as a tactic-teacher at the SS-Junkerschule Brunswick and at the Head Office Court of the SS, he returned on the 1-6-1943 to the SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Division "Das Reich".

Weidinger was engaged in the campaigns in Poland, in the West, South-Estonia and the East and was distinguished on 14-11-1939 with the EK.II., and on 25-7-1940 with the EK.I.

Weidinger was promoted on the 21-6-1943 to SS-Sturmbannführer and is now commander of an SS-Panzer Grenadier Regiment (this must be the section of Der Führer that stayed behind in Russia until April 1944).
