    Georges Guingouin giving the salute to General de Gaulle at Limoges on 4 March 1945. It was on this occasion that de Gaulle, standing on the balcony of the city hall addressed the crowd with, "Limoges, capital of the Resistance", in recognition of the sacrifices made in the area.
