The following
websites either have a section dealing with Oradour
or are good sources of background data or other useful material,
including places to stay in the area. It often seems that these sites can become unavailable from time to time, if
this proves to be the case, please let me know and I will amend the list.
- AAARGH
website. This site gives a very
valuable review of the evidence offered at the trial in Bordeaux in 1953.
(Please note that this site does seem to vary a bit and the Oradour section is not always there)
- Axis History
Factbook.
By: Marcus Wendal. This site is a compendium of data on all aspects of W.W.II
- Centre de la Mémoire.
This is the official French national website for Oradour
and it had French, English,
German and Dutch sections when it first opened in
December 2002 (it was not until 23rd February 2003 that it had useful
content).
This website was often
unavailable during 2005 and starting in
January 2006 it underwent a complete revision, with the new
version being ready from 1st February 2006. Be warned that
this website seems to suffer from frequent downtime and it may not always be
available. Starting in December 2011 there is now an English (and Dutch) version
with limited facilities.
-
WWII Newsgroup often dealing
with Oradour.
This and other Newsgroups are places of discussion and for interchange of
ideas on WWII matters. Newsgroups are useful things and unlike Forums you do
not have to join them and / or complete any form of site registration in
order to be able to use them. For this link to work you will need to have a
suitable Newsgroup reader installed on your machine (such as Outlook
Express, or Windows Live Mail).
- Trial
Judgements On-Line. This website lists many German
trial judgements for war crimes and crimes against humanity for both the old
West Germany and East Germany. In 2009 it was mostly in German, but there is
the promise of increasing English availability. Heinz Barth's trial is
listed on this website.
-
World War 2 Connection.
